9/7/2012 - Vandalism: Tire Slashings at State Museum

On July 30, 2012 JPD received a report of 3 U-haul trucks and 1 van that had their tires slashed in the area of the State Museum on Whittier St. The vehicles were parked and unoccupied. The vandalism occurred sometime over the prior evening.

8/31/2012 - Theft of Purse on South Franklin Street

On 07-16-12 at about 5 p.m., JPD received a report of a stolen purse from the area of the 400 block of S. Franklin. The purse was on a bench and when the owner left it momentarily it was stolen by an unknown person. The purse contained passports, I.D., credit cards and $1,000 in cash.

8/24/2012 - Tire Slashings in the Valley

On 07-15-12 JPD received complaints that 7 vehicles had tires slashed while they were parked over night. The vehicles were parked in their respective driveways on McGinnis and Sanders St in the Mendenhall Valley. Total damage in excess of $1,100.

8/17/2012 - Downtown Transit Center Assault
On August 4, 2012 at about 0330 hours, a 31 year old male reported to JPD
that he had just been assaulted near the Downtown Transit Center on Main St.
by a group of 5 individuals. The victim said he was on one of the stair wells
when he was confronted by a person in the group. The victim was assaulted by
being hit in the face with fists and was “choked out.” He was able to describe
one of the assailants as a male, about 5’ 7” and long black hair.

8/10/2012 - Sitka Street / Nowell Ave. Assault
On July 21, 2012 at about 0615 a.m., a citizen called JPD to report had been
assaulted by a group of unknown people while in the area of Sitka St and
Nowell Ave. The victim, a 26 year old Juneau resident, reported she was
walking to a residence in the area at about 4:00 a.m. when she encountered a
group of people drinking alcohol. One of the suspects became angry at the
victim and began to curse at her as she walked away. As the victim walked
away, she was knocked into a clump of bushes near by and woke up about 2
hours later.
The aggressive female was described as heavy set Native about 5’8” to 5’9” tall.

8/3/2012 - Theft on Fritz Cove Road / Fox Farm Trail

On 07-10-12, a resident from the area of Fritz Cove/Fox Farm Trail, notified JPD of the theft of his kayak. The kayak was located inside their car port and is believed to have been taken sometime over the prior few months. The kayak is described as a Northwest Discovery model, with a blue top and white bottom. It is made of fiberglass and had a black rubberized bow cover. It is valued at about $750.

7/27/2012 - Theft at Airport Restaurant

On July 9, 2012 at about 0930 hours, a citizen reported to JPD that he was in the Airport Restaurant reading from his black Kindle Fire at a table. He left the table for a few moments and when he returned, his Kindle had been stolen. A brown skinned male wearing a brown coat, hat and pants was seen near the table where the Kindle was stolen.

7/20/2012 - Arson on Glacier Highway

On July 4th at about 0248 hours, Capital City Fire Rescue responded to a vehicle fire at the Airport Apartments located at 9310 Glacier Hwy. Upon arrival of fire apparatus, the vehicle was found to be fully engulfed in flames. The vehicle, a Chevy S10 Blazer, was determined to be a complete loss. This case is being investigated by the Juneau Police Dept and Fire Marshall of CCFR.

7/13/2012 - Vandalism on Forest Lane

On June 28, 2012 at about noon, a resident called JPD from the 8400 block of Forest Lane to report four of her cars had been damaged. The complainant said the cars were “keyed” sometime since about 8 p.m. the previous evening. Total damage amount is about $5,000.

7/6/2012 - Theft of Kayak on Fritz Cove Rd.

On 5-25-12 at about 6:40 a.m., a resident from the 800 block of Fritz Cove RD called JPD to report the theft of a kayak. The caller said the kayak had been taken from on top of the cabin sometime during the night.

The kayak is described as a teal 18 foot Necky Amaruk double sea kayak with an orange U.S. Coast Guard sticker on the stern. The kayak is valued at about $900. Due to the remoteness of the cabin, the caller believed access was made from the water/beach area.
